چکیده

Abstract Biosolids are frequently used as organic soil additives. This 2-year field study investigated the effects of sewage sludge (SWS) application on maize ( Zea mays L.) production, nitrogen accumulation, redistribution, and use efficiency, well grain element concentrations properties. Treatments included three SWS rates (20, 40, 80 Mg ha −1 year ‒1 ), mineral fertilizer (300 kg N 26 P an unamended control. Plant samples were collected at silking maturity in both years, while taken following harvest second year. Maize yield increased by 143 for every increase rate. Sewage resulted comparable to or even greater than that fertilizer. Nitrogen uptake translocation grains quadratically with increasing rates. efficiency moderate (up 40 ) but decreased heavy (80 compared fertilizer, raising risk losses. Compared similar lower Cu concentration grain, higher K, had no effect N, Zn, Fe, Mn concentration. Soil pH, NO 3 -N, exchangeable K Olsen improved SWS. There differences among treatments DTPA-extractable Cu, raised could be plant reservoir silking, grains, post-silking uptake, allowing plants meet their requirements throughout growing season. Even 20 , can successfully replace crop.

Effects of sewage sludge and its biochar on soybean yield in fine-textured loess soil

Background: The application of biochar as a soil amendment has achieved popularity and has been found to improve considerably soil nutrient status and plant productivity in low fertile soils. Methods: This study used two different methods to apply sewage sludge and sewage sludge biochar with three replicates in a completely randomized block design. The experiment included (1) control, (2) mulc...

Nitrification Efficiency and Community Structure of Municipal Activated Sewage Sludge

Nitrification is essential to biological processes designed to remove ammonia and/or total nitrogen. It removes excess nitrogenous compound in wastewater which could be very toxic to the aquatic fauna or cause serious imbalance of such aquatic ecosystem. Efficient nitrification is linked to an in-depth knowledge of the structure and dynamics of the nitrifying community structure within the wast...

Effects of Mulching and Nitrogen on Soil Nitrate-N Distribution, Leaching and Nitrogen Use Efficiency of Maize (Zea mays L.)

Mulching and nitrogen are critical drivers of crop production for smallholders of the Loess Plateau in China. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mulching and nitrogen fertilizer on the soil water content, soil nitrate-N content and vertical distribution in maize root-zone. The experiment was conducted over two consecutive years and used randomly assigned field plots with...
